THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE: MELTING ICE
Journey to Greenland’s glacial ice sheets with climate change leader and former Vice President Al Gore. Witness gargantuan glaciers collapsing into crystalline blue waters, icebergs dramatically caving into colossal chunks, and ice thawing at breakneck speed to become roaring rivers – all building to a thought-provoking climax: a “sunny day” Florida flood on the other side of the world, triggered by heightening sea levels. (10mins)
THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE: FIRE
Join brave rapid-response firefighters battling an increasingly dry California and its ever-worsening annual wildfires. Watch helicopters dispatch as blazes rage across vast terrain, see water and retardant strategically dropped from dizzying heights, navigate dangerous ridges, and experience the aftermath of charred ruins – all that remains of entire neighbourhoods. (11mins)
THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE: FEAST
Soar over Brazil’s increasingly threatened rainforest to witness majestic trees felled by illegal loggers, then journey straight into the heart of an outlaw logging operation, and inside one of the many enormous cattle farms – now the biggest driver of deforestation in the Amazon. See firsthand how the cows are raised for food, and question for yourself if society’s insatiable demand for beef will wipe out the rainforest. (9mins)
THIS IS CLIMATE CHANGE: FAMINE
Journeying into the arid expanse of Somalia, see how crushing drought caused by rising temperatures has made once-fertile lands a year-round desert, putting a generation of malnourished children in grave danger. Join a crowded refugee camp, where water must be delivered daily, and an overworked hospital, where the region’s most vulnerable people endure unimaginable suffering.
